Swank Plank

Swank Plank was formed in 2007, with the focus of recovering the waste from large urban tree removals in Northern California to the Bay Area. Due to the high quality and length of the Northern California grow seasons and the stress from urban conditions, these trees tend to have wild reactions in their growth and wood development. Chemicals, encrotching pavment, improper prunning, bugs,...etc enhance the diversity of characteristics in the growth patterns between the same species. Whether these conditions cause the tree to due extreamly well or stressed and unhealthy the reactions will show in different patterns and coloration of the lumber or slabs.

This urban development has also allowed for a diversity of species, some native most non-native from all over the world. Now that this urban sprawl has established a new forest over the past 200 yrs plus...the elder dying or overgrown trees must be removed. We save these logs and slab them for reuse in the custom hardwood industries.

We use 100% of a tree's resource right down to the sawdust without environmental waste. The chips will enrich the soil, the firewood can heat your house, and now the logs will be saved for custom projects and collectables that live on!

We cut our hardwoods to reflect the ever increasing demand of cost-effective hardwood choices depending on the ultimate application of the wood.
